Lauren and Anthony got married in Lexington, Kentucky in May of 2021. Lauren first came to me looking for a custom invitation suite designed, and we immediately got along. I love working with fellow paper lovers! After a little bit of chatting, we decided to go with a really cool line art style, that would work custom illustrations of their venue, and their sweet pup Atticus into the design. The thing I was most excited about with their invitation design though, was that Lauren decided to go with one of my most dramatic custom invitation choices.

Lauren and Anthony met at the University of Louisville where she was studying Equine Business and he was a Civil Engineering Student. One of Lauren’s friends was Anthony’s roommate (and groomsman) and they met while trying to set the friend up with Lauren’s roommate. That coupling didn’t work out but Lauren and Anthony did as did her roommate (and bridesmaid) Jackie and his roommate (and best man) Ethan. A month after they met, they started dating and never looked back – 8 1/2 years later, they got married! They love hiking, horse racing, movies, and sports. They love to make each other laugh and do mundane things like going to the grocery store together. Anthony is the logical one and Lauren is the dreamer – they balance each other perfectly.

Fun fact, my husband made up an ever changing song about Atticus, and would sing it any time I showed him my progress, or a new place we had snuck him into the design. After the wedding, I asked Lauren to tell me a little about their big day, and what made it special for them.

What were some of your favorite details from the day?
Our spring wedding was perfect, we held our ceremony outside of the historic Round Barn in front of the iconic bright red doors under a gorgeous trellis decorated with spring flowers. Our wedding party started with our beloved rescue dog Atticus as our dog of honor in a bow-tie matching the groomsmen and flower collar.

Tell me some about your venue
We got married at the Round Barn Stable of Memories. The building is historic and incredibly unique. While it is a barn – the bright red doors, hexagonal shape, three-story indoor space, and chandelier make it a classy and truly unique space. I attended a work event there and fell in love with the space and knew I wanted to be married there.

Our colors were dusty blue and navy which were featured in our bridesmaid dresses, groom and groomsmen suits and ties, indoor decor and our custom stationery. Each table at our reception featured a different bottle of bourbon – which was how we ‘numbered’ the tables (we are in bourbon country!) We did a twist on the traditional ‘chicken or fish’ and had fried catfish and cajun fried turkey from Bayou Bluegrass Catering.
Pin one of these for later!
